  • After Op Sindoor, Jaish Swimming Pool To Train Terrorists Reopened: Sources

Over a month ago, on May 7, India struck terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir to avenge the Pahalgam attacks. In Operation Sindoor, India destroyed terror camps in Bahawalpur, the headquarters of the Jaish-e-Mohammad, a terror group responsible for several attacks in India.

After a month, the terrorist group, say sources, has reopened the swimming pool in the Madrassa, which is part of their training module.

Bahawalpur, located in the Punjab province of Pakistan, was a high-value target for India. The precision strikes caused extensive damage to the structures, which was even confirmed by Maxar satellite images accessed and analysed

  • Rs 100 Crore Road Built In Bihar. Problem: Nobody Cut Trees In The Middle

Imagine driving on a wide, newly built road with zero potholes and trees lined up on both sides. As you speed through the smooth road, the fresh breeze and landscape make for a scenic and pleasant driving experience. But what if these trees shift to the middle of the road? It turns into a real-life biking game where you either evade hurdles or lose a lifeline. And, this has come true in Bihar’s Jehanabad, 50km away from the capital Patna, where a Rs 100 crore road widening project went terribly wrong.

In Jehanabad, on the Patna-Gaya main road, trees stand tall in the middle of the 7.48 km long road, making the commuters prone to accidents. These trees didn’t grow overnight. Then what happened?

  • New Satellite Pics Show India’s Attack Split Pak Terror Camps Into Half

New high-resolution satellite imagery with NDTV shows, for the first time, the impact of Indian precision strikes against two major terrorist training camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) during Operation Sindoor last month. While the armed forces have not identified the weapons used in the attack, it is believed that both were targeted with loitering drones.

The images are of two camps, the Syedna Bilal Camp in Muzaffarabad, 36 kilometres west of Tangdhar in Kashmir, and the Kotli Gulpur camp, which is 40 kilometres west of Rajouri in Jammu. Both were struck in the early hours of May 7, when India targeted multiple terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and PoK following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians lost their lives.

  • Aadhaar-PAN Link, ATM Withdrawal Fees, More. Financial Changes From July 1

Changes to regulations governing filing of income tax returns; the use of and charges associated with credit cards; and last-minute, or Tatkal, train ticket bookings; as well as making an Aadhaar card mandatory for new PAN applications, are among those that will come into effect on July 1.

These will impact individual taxpayers and customers of banks like HDFC, SBI, and ICICI.

    Aadhaar Needed For New PAN

From Tuesday the Central Board of Direct Taxes has made Aadhaar verification mandatory for PAN card applications. Existing PAN holders must link their Aadhaar numbers by December 31.

At present any valid government-issued ID, such as a driving license, and a birth certificate is enough for new PAN card applications.

Non-compliance with this rule may lead to the existing PAN being deactivated.

    Tatkal Train Ticket Bookings

Aadhaar verification will also be mandatory for booking Tatkal tickets.

Also, starting July 15, two-factor authentication, which will include a one-time password that will be sent to the registered mobile phone, will be required for all ticketing, online or in-person.

  • India Nears Starlink Rollout as SpaceX Clears Regulatory Hurdles

India is on the cusp of a major leap in digital connectivity as SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service inches closer to operational status in the country.

In an exclusive conversation, Dr Pawan Goenka, Chairman of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe), which is India’s space regulator, confirmed that most of the regulatory and licensing requirements for Starlink have been addressed.

The final approvals are expected to be wrapped up in the coming days.

The meeting between Dr Goenka and Gwynne Shotwell, who is President & COO of SpaceX, held during the latter’s recent visit to India, focused on resolving outstanding issues related to authorisations.

While the groundwork is nearly complete, Dr Goenka emphasised that several technical and procedural steps remain before the service can be launched. “Even after authorisation, it will take a few months for the service to become operational,” he noted.

  • Mouni Roy Rings In Disha Patani’s 33rd Birthday With A Heartfelt Post: “Love All Characteristics & Atoms That Make You”

Mouni Roy and Disha Patani are BFFs and they often share their love for each other on social media. Roy wished Patani on June 13 to celebrate the latter’s birthday with a heartfelt post.

The Brahmastra actress posted a carousel of pictures and videos on Instagram, highlighting their on-fleek fashion moments and exotic travel escapades.

The opening frame captures the two best friends posing against the backdrop of a private jet. While Disha wore a full-sleeved white bodysuit and flared pants, Roy went with an oversized white tee and black tights. This image of them hugging each other affectionately is a testimony to their friendship.

The glamorous shot of Roy and Patani rocking basic tank tops in the next picture is equally sweet. The next couple of clicks have the BFFs twinning in blush pink mini dresses, radiating Barbiecore vibes.

Speaking of street-style avatars, both the divas know how to do it right. One such snap showed the two striking a pose on the backdrop of a setting sun.

Patani picked out a brown full-sleeved crop top and baggy white trousers. Nature-inspired prints at the hem of the bottomwear were the X-factor. Roy kept it minimally edgy in a white ribbed crop top and beige cargo pants.

The sisters from different mothers can ace the pretty-girl sartorial flair like a true boss. On a restaurant outing, Patani slipped into a strapless blue mini dress, while Roy served glam in a purple one. The cute pictures of them together are definitely BFF goals.

The rest of the album featured their beach vacations. From sun-kissed selfies to riding a bike and exploring new destinations, the two had the best time of their lives. In one click, Patani was seen cutting two delicious chocolate cakes.

Roy wrote in the caption, “Happiest birthday to my mystifying, electrifying, most beautiful lil sis. My best mate & princepessa; love all characteristics & atoms that make you.”

  • Can The Ice Dunk Trend Save Your Skin? We Asked Experts

Summer doesn’t exactly scream “beauty trend season,” but one skincare practise is climbing the charts and rightly so – the ice dunking trend. From Alia Bhatt using ice to reduce puffiness to Ananya Panday showcasing it as a cool beauty hack that works, ice dunking has become a favourite among many celebrities.

While ice has always been a popular element in skincare rituals, the recent trend has us curious about its real benefits. NDTV reached out to experts to better understand both the advantages and disadvantages of this growing skincare practise.

What Is Ice Dunking For Skin?

Dunking ice for skin- also known as ice dunking or an ice water facial – is a popular beauty trend where you submerge your face in a bowl full of ice-cold water for a short period. It is sort of a cold therapy believed to refresh and rejuvenate the skin.

Benefits Of Ice Dunking For Skin

From improving skin texture to reducing inflammation, ice dunking offers several benefits – but do they actually last? We asked experts.

Dr Meghana Reddy Endela, Consultant Dermatologist at Zennara Clinics, told NDTV that ice dunking improves circulation, reduces inflammation, enhances skin health, and may even regulate core body temperature.

“Cold water has anti-inflammatory benefits and soothes irritated, itchy skin. It refreshes the skin, especially in hot weather. Cold water is also known to have a temporary benefit on enlarged pores and improving skin tone due to the vasoconstriction effect,” explains Dr Madhuri Agarwal, Dermatologist, Founder & Medical Director at Yavana Aesthetics Clinic.

Dr Rashmi Sharma, Dermatologist and Director at Kara Dermatology Solutions & Aesthetic Centre, agrees that while ice dunking can benefit the skin, it does have not have a long-term effect. “It can temporarily shrink the pores and make your skin shine, which will make the redness reduce”.

Are There Any Side Effects Of Ice Dunking

As the trend gains popularity, many people follow it blindly without understanding the potential side effects, which may lead to skin issues.

Dr Endela says, “Beginners should start by dipping their face in ice for about 15 seconds and gradually increase to 30 seconds. It’s important to take breaks between plunges to avoid problems. People with sensitive skin need to be careful, as cold water can strip the skin of natural oils, causing skin irritation and dryness”.

    Who Should Avoid Ice Dunking

You may want to hop on the bandwagon when there’s a new skincare trend around, but it’s crucial to evaluate whether it suits your skin type. Experts recommend avoiding ice dunking in certain cases:

    • If you have rosacea (a chronic inflammatory skin condition) as extreme temperatures can trigger a flare-up.
    • Those who suffer from circulatory issues such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (an autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues) and Raynaud (a condition that causes the blood vessels in the extremities, typically fingers and toes).
    • People who have sensitive skin as it may cause irritation and skin damage.
    • Ice dunking can make it worse if you are prone to broken capillaries.
    • You should not try it if you have severe acne. While it may soothe inflammation, can irritate lesions.

  • Woman Killed, Daughter Injured In Kerala, Suspect Caught With Missing Child

A 34-year-old woman was hacked to death and her teenage daughter seriously injured in an attack in this hill district, police said on Monday.

A younger daughter who was missing after the incident has been found safe with the suspect, who is now in custody, they said.

The attack took place late Sunday evening at the woman’s rented home in Appappara village, under the Thirunelli police station limits.

The victim, Praveena, had been living there with her two daughters after separating from her husband, police said.

According to the police, the attack was allegedly carried out by Praveena’s male friend, identified as Dileesh.

Her 14-year-old daughter suffered deep wounds to her neck and ear and is being treated at a government hospital.

The suspect fled the scene with Praveena’s nine-year-old daughter, prompting a major search operation.

Police used drones and combed nearby forest areas despite rough weather conditions and difficult terrain.

Both the suspect and the missing girl were found on Monday near a forested area close to the house and the girl appeared unharmed, police said.

  • Kerala Man Charged For “Brutally Assaulting” 8-Year-Old Daughter

Police booked a man on Saturday after disturbing visuals of him “brutally assaulting” his eight-year-old daughter went viral on social media recently.

In the footage, the man could be seen beating the child and trying to slam her head against the wall as she cries in fear.

As the issued triggered widespread outrage on social media platforms, Health, Women and Child Development Minister Veena George and General Education Minister V Sivankutty came out strongly condemning the act and assured stringent leagal measures against the accused.

Following circulation of the video, the police launched a probe and identified the man as Jose alias Mamachan, living in a rented house in Cherupuzha of this district.

A senior police official said he was summoned to the local station in the morning.

His estranged wife and two children were also called to the station to record their statements, K Vinod Kumar, Deputy SP, Payyannur said.

“As soon as the video came to our notice yesterday, we contacted the man and the children. But, they claimed that it was a prank video,” he told a TV channel.

They claimed that it was picturised to bring back their mother who was staying separated from them.

“But, prima facie, we don’t think it is a prank video. Even if it is a prank video as claimed by them, a video showing brutality to children cannot be taken like this,” he said.

Responding to the criticism about police inaction, Kumar said the children were shifted to their paternal aunt’s house with their consent on Friday itself.

The officer further said legal action would be taken in connection with the incident and a case would be registered after recording the statements of the man, his wife and the children.

Later in the day, Cherupuzha police said a case has been registered against him and he was being interrogated.

“He still claims that it was a prank video. A detailed statement of the children should also be taken and procedures for it are are going on,” a police officer belonging to the station said.

The man was booked under Section 75 of Juvenile Justice Act (cruelty to children) and various sections of the BNS including Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), he said.

As TV channels aired the footages of assault, a panchayat official, quoting locals, told the media that the family moved to Cherupuzha two and a half months ago and the man used to beat his children.

Meanwhile, Minister Veena George gave instructions to the director of the Women and Child Development Department to make necessary interventions in the matter.
